This 5 days tour to Uzbekistan lets you explore the treasuries of ancient monuments and traditions: Bukhara and Samarkand.
You arrive in Tashkent, take the high-speed train west, and spend your days walking in the old towns rather than sitting in a coach. Transfers in Tashkent are made by electric car, and you sleep in family-run guest houses.
Who it suits: a first visit, a short holiday, or a long weekend extended into something worth the flight.
Our team meets you at Tashkent International Airport and transfers you to the hotel by electric car. The city tour begins with the Khast-i-Imam complex, the Kukeldash madrasah and Chorsu bazaar.
High-speed train to Bukhara. A full day on foot: the Samanid mausoleum (10th century), Chashma-Ayub, Bolo Hauz mosque, the Ark fortress and the Poi Kalon complex with its minaret, mosque and madrasah.
For Bukhara and Samarkand, yes — the fast trains do the work. It is not enough for Khiva as well; that needs the seven-day route.
In family-run guest houses inside the old towns, so you walk out of the door into the monuments.

Morning in Bukhara: Lyabi-Hauz, Chor Minor with its four minarets, the Magoki-Attori mosque and the trading domes. Afternoon train to Samarkand.
Gur-e-Amir, the crypt of the Timurids; Registan square and its three madrasas; the Bibi-Khanym mosque of 1399; and Siab bazaar. Evening train back to Tashkent.
Breakfast, and a transfer to the airport in time for your flight home.
